First Haircut

Tate got her first haircut today. Here she is a week ago with the full complement of curly locks at Troy's baseball camp.

She was excited to go, but not too sure about it at the same time.

All that curly hair!

There it goes...

Almost finished now.

Tate's new look. There's still a tiny bit of curl in there, but it's mostly straight now.

The first picture was from Troy's baseball camp, where he got to play a day at Citibank Park, the Long Island Ducks stadium in nearby Central Islip.

The kids got to run the bases and take some infield.

The older kids got to take BP on the field, but the little guys were confined to the outfield.

Lots to Post

July was a busy month, so here are the highlights. Tate took a test drive on the swings of the new playground at the Holtsville Ecology Center.

Posing near the goat pen.

The peacock was showing off for us.

Tate on the rocking horse at Gardiner County Park.

Checking out the beach at Gardiner.

Troy picking some strawberries from our garden.

We went to Disneyworld for me and Troy's birthday. Unfortunately, our little point and shoot camera broke while we were there, so we didn't get any pictures from the character breakfast at Chef Mickey's. We did, however, get the best room in the house at the Contemporary: top floor with a balcony view of the Magic Kingdom. Perfect for watching the fireworks.

For our birthday dinner, we ate at Cinderella's castle. The kids had a great time, and Troy was even big enough to ride on the Thunder Mountain Railroad.

Back at home, we went for a visit to Smith Point beach.

Tate likes to dress up like her favorite book character, Fancy Nancy. We call her Tacky Tatumn.

Tate found a playhouse to match her outfit at White Post Farms.

Going for a pony ride.

Troy got to ride on the big horse.

The first weekend of August was Tracey's cousin Colette's wedding. Tate was the flower girl.

She did her job pretty well, scattering flower pedals around. In a fit of extra enthusiasm, she also tossed the basket at the end.

Troy got dressed up for the occasion as well.

Graduation Day

Troy had his graduation from preschool today.

Two and a half years at Kiddie Kampus has been half of his life. Here, he gives the thumbs up to moving on to kindergarten.

There were a number of song & dance routines as part of the festivities, Troy was in "Mamma Mia."

Going back a few weeks, soccer season ended on June 7th and everyone got trophies. Here are Troy and I with our team the Searays.

Tate on a visit to Bar Beach in Port Washington, when there was still some sunshine.

Tate and Troy at the one-room schoolhouse at Old Bethpage Village.

Grandpa Thom and Grandma Sonja came to visit on Memorial Day weekend.

Troy at the newly restored Nunley's Carousel.

We went to the Museum of Natural History in Manhattan for Father's Day yesterday.

One last picture of Tate, who was a very good girl during the two and a half hours of Troy's graduation and is nearly through with diapers.

Florida Trip

We just got back from a trip to Florida. We started out on the west coast, here are Troy and Tate frolicking in the Gulf on the day we arrived.

The warm and gentle water of the Gulf is just right for Troy, although we actually had him approximating the doggy paddle in the pool by the end of the week.

On Mother's Day, we took a trip to the Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park, followed by a terrific poolside dinner at Aunt Barbara and Uncle Frank's house with great grandma and grandpa Nickel.

On Monday, we headed east in time to see the Space Shuttle launch from grandma Madalyne's living room.

Here's a nice picture Tate took of her juice cup and her brother at breakfast.

On Wednesday we took a ride to Disney World and spent the day at Epcot. Thursday night, after some time at the beach, we went to see the St. Lucie Mets at Tradition Field. Tate took a spill on the stairs, but was given an official baseball for her troubles.

Tracey and the kids on the beach on the last night of vacation.

Little footsteps in the sand.

Backing up a little, we greeted the arrival of warmer weather in late April with some more adventures for LI4Kids. Here's Tate at the Robert Moses State Park playground.

Troy after the long walk to the lighthouse.

Playing in the mist at the New York Hall of Science in Queens.

Tate at the playground at the Queens Zoo.

Troy has become a big fan of Ben 10 Alien Force.

Happy Easter

The Easter Bunny paid us a visit last night and left Troy and Tate with too much candy.

Tate got some pipsqueak markers in her basket, which she likes to use on her face.

With the weather getting warmer, we're spending a lot more time outside.

Tate likes to ride around the deck on her little scooter, which was Tracey's when she was little.

Here's a low-tech animation of Troy and Tate playing together.

Happy New Year!

Here's Troy in his preschool graduation photo.

This was an outtake from the Christmas card photos that was a late finalist.

Troy and Tate crash after two hours at Bouncers and Slydos.

Tate has had a chance to try out one of her new words a few times in the past few days: snow.

Troy kept his arm warm for springtime baseball.

Christmas morning, and Tate had some fun playing with her new easel.

Three days later, and it was birthday time. Here come the terrible twos!
